The Urban Cowboys 2000

This year the Wyoming State Society's softball team, The Urban Cowboys, had one of its most successful seasons.  Finishing the regular season with a 12-6 record was good enough for a post season birth for the second time in team history. Although we didn't make it past the first round of the playoffs the season was still considered a success by the entire team.  A majority of the team losses came at the hands of non-Congressional teams, therefore we were able to maintain bragging rights on the Hill.

Our success was due in part to everyone's willingness to show up for games  and to teammates who consistently supplied the team with "refreshments."  Another big part of the team's success was the undeniable fact that we had more fun than the other teams week in and week out.

While the team consisted mostly of staff from the Wyoming delegations offices we were able to draw people from other Congressional offices as well as fellow Wyomingites from the private sector.

Hopefully we can continue to have a successful team without losing our sense of humor.  If you are in the D.C. area, or plan to be in the spring, and would like to play, please email us at wss@gmdtech.com.
