Fishing School
WSS Gives Back to the DC Community
WSS has been actively involved with the Fishing School since 1997.
The Reverend Tom Lewis, who is also a retired D.C. Police Officer, established the Fishing School in 1989 to provide after school and weekend programs for children, ages 5 to 15, who are from troubled homes. This program endeavors to create and nurture the desire, will, and discipline required for inner-city children to develop into independent, productive members of society.
The Fishing School actively promotes community involvement in its programs and services.
A 501 (c) (4), the Fishing School is entirely funded by voluntary contributions. All deductions are tax deductible and directly enable inner-city children to have a "safe haven" in their neighborhood. The WSS is proud to give annual contributions to this valuable program.
Our most recent contribution of $5,000 was presented on January 19, 2001. President Bush subsequently
visited the Fishing School on January 24th, to highlight his commitment to faith-based programs.
For those interested in donating to the Fishing School, please contact Rev. Tom Lewis at http://www.fishingschool.org.
