Richard B. Cheney Inaugural Celebration
On January 19th, 2005, the Wyoming State Society hosted our second Inagural Ball in honor of Vice President
Dick Cheney and Lynne V. Cheney. Twice the size of our event in 2001, this night we hosted over 3,000 Wyomingites, sponsors and guests at DAR Constitution Hall. It was truly a
historic night for us all!
Senator Alan Simpson emceed the gala and the crowd warmly welcomed the Cheneys' into another four year term. The monies raised from this
evening allowed the WSS to donate $25,000 to the Wyoming Women's History House in honor of Lynne Vincent Cheney and $7,500 to the University of Wyoming in honor of Alan
Simpson, Malcolm Wallop, Senator Thomas, and Vice President Cheney.

On Friday, January 19, 2001 the WSS hosted the official gala honoring Wyoming's own Vice President-elect Dick
Cheney. Because such a large number of Wyomingites traveled across the country for the 2001 Inauguration, the WSS wanted to properly honor Wyoming's native son in a true
western fashion. Over 1,500 individuals attended this first-class gala that left a lasting impression on all of those who attended.
The evening's excitement skyrocketed with appearances by then President-elect George W. and Laura Bush, (ret.)
Senator Alan and Anne Simpson, Senator Craig and Susan Thomas, Senator Mike and Diane Enzi, Representative Barbara and Fritz Cubin, not to mention other remarkable individuals
that truly made everyone feel at home.
Entertainment included Hank Williams Junior, John Popper, Miss Wyoming, Rulon Gardner, Annie and Amy Smith and
Ms. America to name a few.
